So, for such mystery lovers, here is a list of the best bewildering places to visit in India. With the end of Covid 19 travel restrictions, now is perhaps the best time to plan a trip to these locations!

  1. The mini desert at Talakad, Karnataka

Situated on the banks of river Kaveri, Talakad is a mini desert that is buried in the sand. Locals believe it was home to about 30 temples in the past, five of which are ‘lingams of Lord Shiva.’ The story around the village explains that a widowed devotee of Lord Shiva cursed this land. Afterwards, the place was inexplicably turned into a strange desert where the river Kaveri transforms into a swirling whirlpool.

  1. Levitating Stone at Shivapur, Maharashtra

Another mystery spot hidden in the plains of India is the Hazrat Qamar Ali Darvesh shrine. Located in Maharashtra, the place is popular because of a special rock that weighs 70kg. It can only be lifted by one means. 11 people need to gather around the stone, uplift it with their forefingers, and loudly call the name of a saint. Besides this, there are no other means to elevate the stone.

  1. Door-less houses at Shani Shingnapur, Maharashtra

Shani Shingnapur, as is clear from its name, is famous for its Shani temple. Located 25k from Ahmednagar, it is a mysterious location where no house, school, or commercial building has a door or door frame. And, despite this, no crime has ever been reported in this village. The locals believe this to be a result of Lord Shani’s blessings.

3. The pillarless central hall at Bara Imambara, Lucknow

One of the most popular historical sites in Uttar Pradesh, the Bara Imambara is a blend of Arabian and European architecture. It features a central-arched hall about 50 in length and three stories high. What amazes the tourists about the structure is the fact that the central hall is standing without any pillars or beams supporting it.

  1. The Magnetic hill in Leh, Ladakh

The beautiful mountains of Ladakh are popular for a lot more than just their beauty. They feature a mysterious magnetic hill, located 11,000 feet above sea level. One of the most unusual places to visit in India, the slope pulls up cars. So, you can drive up here even with the ignition of your vehicle turned off. Experts believe this happens because of the hill’s gravitational pull.
